Kids trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses; Visit Sylvan Lake publishes a map of participants and a "Register Your Business" link for shops that want to take part. Around town

Veterans Memorial Crosswalk unveiled at Legion Branch 212. The finishing touches went on a new memorial crosswalk outside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212, marking 100 years of the Legion in Canada. Branch president Juanita Dayton told rdnewsnow the branch has about 500 members; council approved the project earlier in 2026 and it was paid for from the Town's 2026 operating budget. Flags of Remembrance along Highway 11 until November 12. Nearly 300 flags honouring Canadian military members and first responders killed or missing in action are flying along Highway 11 near Sylvan Lake and will stay up until November 12. Source: Sylvan Lake News, via Ground News.

140 kilograms of garbage pulled from the lake at the 23rd annual cleanup. Thirty-two volunteers and four divers removed 140 kilograms of garbage on September 20. The Town's communications officer Jared Waldo asked beach, boat and lakefront users to keep garbage habits up through winter, since litter lost in snow ends up in the lake at spring melt. Curbside recycling changes on October 1. From October 1 the Town accepts more in the blue bin as part of Alberta's Extended Producer Responsibility transition: glass jars and bottles, Styrofoam packaging, flexible plastics such as bags and bubble wrap, paper cartons, aerosol containers and aluminum and metal items.
