Free activities from 1:00 to 4:00 include a straw pit, dirt-pile adventure zone, petting zoo, axe throwing, a mechanical bull and horse-drawn carriage rides. Nominations close Monday October 5 at 12:00 PM. The candidate forum is Wednesday October 28 at 6:00 PM in the Strategis rooms at the NexSource Centre, streamed on the Town's YouTube channel, with a CARE-a-Van pickup from 5:00 to 5:45 PM. Library dessert auction raises more than $3,000. Sixteen donated desserts went under auctioneer Perry Hilman's hammer at the Diamond Valley Den on September 24, with a catered meal and live music from Mike Szabo, raising over $3,000 toward a new library facility. Donors included Dairy Queen, Sans Bake Shop, Al's Bobcat and Trucking, Rachael's Sweets and Rusty Kage Smokehouse and Grill. The library says another auction is planned; no date yet. Curbside recycling takes more from October 1. Glass jars and bottles, Styrofoam packaging, flexible plastics such as bags and bubble wrap, paper cartons, aerosol containers and aluminum and metal items now go in the blue bin, part of Alberta's Extended Producer Responsibility transition. Province: $100 energy rebate deadline moved to October 31. Alberta extended the application deadline for its one-time $100 energy rebate by a month to October 31.
