The short version

Jarvis Bay Provincial Park

Jarvis Bay is the provincial campground, 4 km north of town on Highway 20, run by KR Campground Maintenance. It is fully serviced and has an ample trail system through the woods, but there is no access to the lake from the campground itself; the main beach on Lakeshore Drive is a 10-minute drive (Alberta Parks — Jarvis Bay Provincial Park). Published rates are about $29 a night for power sites and $23 for unserviced, plus a small reservation fee (To Do Canada — Sylvan Lake). The park's trails double as snowshoe and cross-country ski routes in winter (Visit Sylvan Lake — Your Guide to Winter). Note that the viewing platform near site 129 has been closed since August 27, 2025 for structural reasons (Alberta Parks — Jarvis Bay Provincial Park).

Pogadl Park Municipal Campground

The Town's campground at 6301 Memorial Trail is part of the still-growing Pogadl Park, next to the Sylvan Lake Gulls stadium, the ball diamonds and the Co-Operators Play Zone splash park. Posted 2026 rates: sites 1–10 with water, sewer and 15/30/50-amp power at $66.15 a night; sites 11–42 with power only at $40; tent sites T1–T4 with no services at $22.05. There is a free shower house, two indoor washroom buildings, a picnic table and fire pit at every site and a camp store selling firewood and ice (credit card only). Bookings for 2026 are closed; expect construction noise as new fields and courts are added (Town of Sylvan Lake — Parks, Playgrounds and Trails). The splash park's water runs when the day reaches 16°C, roughly late May to mid-September (Town of Sylvan Lake — Parks, Playgrounds and Trails).

Sylvan Lake RV Park

The private option closest to the water: Sylvan Lake RV Park at 4305 50 Avenue counts itself 300 steps from the lake and a two-minute walk to town, with a large playground half a block away. Its 67 family-friendly sites take RVs, trailers and fifth wheels with 30-amp power, water, sewer, a fire pit and a picnic table each, plus complimentary Wi-Fi, washrooms with showers, on-site management and a gated property. Three geodesic domes and an on-site Airbnb cover guests without a rig. The season is May to September; seasonal bookings are open on the website and overnight bookings open each April (Sylvan Lake RV Park).

Golf-course camping

Three courses run their own sites. Meadowlands R.V. Park at Meadowlands Golf Club at Sylvan Lake has 94 powered sites beside the 6,500-yard course (Meadowlands Golf Club). The Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club campground sits beside its 19th Hole Tournament House at 50th Street and 60th Avenue, walkable to Lakeshore Drive (Sylvan Lake Golf & Country Club). Lakewood Golf Resort on the east side of the lake advertises RV parks alongside its par-72 course and licensed patio restaurant (Lakewood Golf Resort). Things campers ask

Can I camp on the beach? No. Sylvan Lake Provincial Park is day-use only, and the 2026 Parks Bylaw bans tents and canopies along the whole lakefront (Alberta Parks — Sylvan Lake PP summary; CBC News — Sylvan Lake tent ban). Fires? Pogadl Park and the RV Park have fire pits at every site (Town of Sylvan Lake — Parks, Playgrounds and Trails; Sylvan Lake RV Park). Boat launch? None at the beach; use The Launch at Sylvan Lake at the marina, which also sells fuel on the water (The Launch at Sylvan Lake). Groceries and gear? Canadian Tire Sylvan Lake on Thevenaz Industrial Trail has a fishing pro shop, fishing licences and propane swap, open until 9 p.m. daily; Party Chef Market & Kitchen downtown carries farm-to-table groceries (Party Chef).
